My favorite subject of science back in high school was Chemistry, a branch of physical science that studies the composition, structure, properties and changes of matters.

In China, Chemistry is a compulsory course for third-year junior high school students and all senior high school students. I started to learn Chemistry at my last year in junior high, and fell in love with it as I got to know more about it.

In high school, most students in my class were apt to learn Chemistry by doing numerous quizzes, some even by rote. I, instead, took a unique approach of learning it. Before each Chemistry class, I would clear out my mind, get fully prepared for the lesson and do my best in class to find out about the common laws of reaction among types of atoms and molecules. Whenever I came across something rather hard for me to understand, I would go ask my Chemistry teacher, Mr. Chow, for help, or search on the Internet about the problems I don’t quite understand, trying to get them solved by myself. Besides, I loved watching videos focusing on some cutting-edge scientific discoveries, most of which often included some compelling stories about the Chemistry scientists I was going to learn in my textbook. Apart from those hard efforts, I also tried to engross myself in all kinds of chemical experiments as long as I was available, making the best of my spare time to learn more about how matters react to each other in the Lab.

Oh and, speaking of the reason why I find Chemistry rather interesting, there is something I have to mention about. Well, in one of my Chemistry classes back in senior high, I was somehow fascinated by the structure, shape, and color of the chemical our teacher brought to us that day. ‘How come I never saw this beautiful thing before. How did it come into being?’ I thought to myself. Ever since then, my zest for Chemistry has been ignited. I guess it’s fair to say that I am someone very much wants to delve into, and unveil the myth of Chemistry.
