Pursuing a Bachelor of Education degree at Manitoba's only research-intensive university will prepare you to become a successful K-12 teacher.

A Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) at the University of Manitoba is an after-degree program. It is a two-year program that follows the completion of a first bachelor's degree.

Program options:

The B.Ed. program offers stream options that allow you to choose the age group you want to learn to teach. The streams available include:

Early Years (K - Grade 4)
Middle Years (Grade 5 - 8)
Senior Years (Grade 9 -12)

It also offers practicum school experience options including: urban, rural, French immersion, northern and international settings.

Our program includes courses that focus on areas such as Indigenous knowledge and curriculum, inclusive education, cross-cultural education, technology, second-language education, education for sustainable development and curriculum areas in sciences, arts, social studies, languages, math, human ecology and physical education.

Our Faculty of Education is located on the Fort Garry Campus where numerous campus-wide resources are available to students.

Other English language requirements accepted: TOEFL paper based score of 550; Achieve minimum scores of 4.5 in Reading, 4.5 in Listening, and 4.0 in Writing on the?CanTEST?(Canadian Test of English for Scholars and Trainees);?Achieve a minimum score of 6.5 based upon the Academic Module on the?IELTS?(International English Language Testing System);?Achieve a minimum score of 80 on the?MELAB?(Michigan English Language Assessment Battery) offered by the University of Michigan; Achieve a minimum grade of C in the?University of Cambridge Certificate of Proficiency in English.Achieve a score of 60 or more in the?CAEL?(Canadian Academic English Language Assessment); Achieve a minimum?of 58%?in the?Pearson Test of English.Achieve a minimum of 65% in Level?5 of the direct entry English program (also known as Intensive Academic English Program orIAEP), as taught by the English Language Centre of the University of Manitoba.
