Programme overview

If you have achieved consistently high grades in your Bachelor of Commerce degree (or equivalent) you could be eligible for the honours programme. It will provide you with an additional 120 points of postgraduate research-based study to develop your analytical skills and critical thinking.

You will complete a set of advanced courses in the discipline and a short supervised dissertation or project that will demonstrate your independent research skills. Your honours programme structure and courses will depend on the specialization selected.

Accounting

Accounting is the practice of maintaining and auditing financial statements and preparing reports on the assets, liabilities and operations of a business.

Financial accounting involves the presentation of financial statements and techniques for their analysis. Management accounting explores the use of accounting data for managerial planning, decision making, and control. Where can Accounting take you?

When you graduate, you could become an accountant or auditor in a chartered accountancy practice, in industry, or in the public sector. You could also work as a business consultant or financial manager in a manufacturing, service or consultancy organisation.
