Physical Education (PE) is an industry that is continually growing both locally and nationally, with over 200 schools and other education establishments employing physical education teachers within the Leeds district alone. This exciting programme has been developed with input from current physical education teachers, primary and high school headmasters and self-employed school orientated coaches. It develops your knowledge in coaching practice, physical education, inclusive physical education, and learning the policies and practices of a physical education teacher. During the course you will be required to complete a range of work placements within local schools or with local sports teams as part of the Work Related Learning module. You will plan and deliver practical coaching sessions and classroom based lessons. The course offers places for students to undertake their work placement abroad at a variety of schools in Orebro, Sweden, working in both primary and secondary education, whilst leading sporting activities. This will provide you with valuable industry experience, networking opportunities and industry recognised qualifications.

During the course you will develop: Coaching knowledge at delivering school sports; Leading physical education lessons that meet National Curriculum standards; How to promote inclusivity in the both the classroom and physical activity; The policies and practices which physical education teachers are effected by The learning and teaching standards required and/or expected by Ofsted during observations and Ultimately, what it takes to become a great physical education teacher; You will also develop a wide range of transferable skills desired by employers such as: effective communication, critical thinking, problem solving, teamwork and effective use of IT software. As well as a range of academic skills such as: presenting, referencing, academic writing and independent research.
