UNSW Foundation Studies Programs provide pathway programs to international students to all UNSW bachelor degree programs. You’ll be taught the academic and study skills you need for university, while enhancing your proficiency in English.

A Foundation Studies Stream is the area of study that relates to the bachelors degree you want to complete. Our streams are designed to prepare you for all UNSW bachelors degrees. Simply pick the Foundation Studies Stream your UNSW degree was matched with from step 1 to delve deeper and see what subjects you’ll study. For example, if you choose Bachelor of Art Theory, your Foundation Studies Stream is Design.

Arts Stream

The Arts Stream is designed for students planning on studying an Arts degree within the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences, or a Law degree within the Faculty of Law.

Arts/Social Sciences: for students intending to study a general degree across a broad range of Arts related fields.

Commerce Stream

There are two Commerce Streams designed for students intending to study a Commerce Degree with The UNSW Business School. Students wishing to undertake a Bachelor of Actuarial Studies should undertake the Commerce Actuarial Stream.

Commerce: for students intending to study Business, Accounting, Economics and Arts.
Commerce Actuarial: for students with higher mathematical ability and intending to study Actuarial Studies.

Design Stream

UNSW Foundation Studies offers a Design stream for students who are interested in studying Architecture, Design or similar programs at UNSW Sydney.

Science Stream

UNSW Foundation Studies offers two Science Streams. Students considering undertaking a Science Stream should have higher mathematical ability. The Physical Science Stream is designed for students wishing to undertake an Engineering or Science degree. The Life Science Stream is designed for students wishing to undertake a Biological or Health Science degree.

Physical Science: for students with higher mathematical ability and intending to study an Engineering or Science degree.
Life Science: for students with higher mathematical ability and intending to study a Biological/Health Science degree.
