As a Sociology major, you’ll examine the interactions between individuals and groups, focusing on cultural diversity and patterns that affect social issues and problems.

A sociological perspective is crucial for success in today’s diverse communities and organizations and for success in international business operations. In fact, a national study revealed that 96% of American employers believe being comfortable working with colleagues, customers, and/or clients from diverse cultural backgrounds is a critical skill for college graduates.

In this program you will:

Understand cultural diversity and patterns that affect social issues and problems
Analyze social factors such as race, ethnicity, gender, age, education, and social class
Develop critical thinking skills and the ability to apply sound judgments to real-world situations
Gain skills in research design and analysis

The Sociology major provides students with insight into a variety of social forces and factors including race, criminology, culture, social change, gender, age issues, education, politics and the economy. You will be prepared with a strong liberal arts foundation and the ability to tailor your degree to your individual career goals and interests.

Applicants must have official academic records (transcripts or mark-sheets) of their high school transcripts/diploma and for each year of postsecondary education (college or university), as well as official copies of degrees awarded. Required Scores for TOEFL: A score of 79 on the Internet Based Test (IBT), 550 points on the Paper Based Test (PBT) or 213 or higher on the Computer Based Test (CBT) is required for unrestricted acceptance; Required Scores for IELTS: Applicants must present scores of at least 5.5 for general acceptance and 6.0 for nursing acceptance on the IELTS; and PTE (43). Some applicants may require higher test scores depending on educational background and program of entry.
