In Rivier’s Early Childhood Education program, you will gain firsthand experience in top-notch education facilities and learn the teaching skills necessary to be confident in front of a classroom. Through observations and student teaching, you will learn to connect theory with practice and be prepared to play a valuable role in the lives of early learners.

As an Early Childhood Education major, you will be required to gain a specialization through a minor in another discipline and complete the New Hampshire State Department of Education Professional Standards for Teachers, both of which are required for certification.

In this program you will:

  • Connect theory with practice for classroom success
  • Develop your critical thinking and problem-solving skills

Through a focus on experiential learning and field experience beginning your freshman year, you will build your skills, resume, and professional network. Our proximity to some of the finest school districts in our state offers excellent opportunities for internships and employment. You will gain practical experience through a semester-long student teaching assignment, which will build your confidence in the classroom as well as your resume, and further develop your skills.

Applicants must have official academic records (transcripts or mark-sheets) of their high school transcripts/diploma and for each year of postsecondary education (college or university), as well as official copies of degrees awarded. Required Scores for TOEFL: A score of 79 on the Internet Based Test (IBT), 550 points on the Paper Based Test (PBT) or 213 or higher on the Computer Based Test (CBT) is required for unrestricted acceptance; Required Scores for IELTS: Applicants must present scores of at least 5.5 for general acceptance and 6.0 for nursing acceptance on the IELTS; and PTE (43). Some applicants may require higher test scores depending on educational background and program of entry.
