For students who wish to work in the complex, constantly changing world of media and communications, the Sports Media program gives the knowledge and skills to excel in the field.

The Oklahoma State University undergraduate Sports Media program is the largest stand-alone sports media program in the world with more than 215 annual majors and declared pre-majors. In this program, you will have a balance of theory and hands-on training in the classroom. All faculty members in the OSU Sports Media program possess extensive experience in the industry.

Career paths

Sports Media Students create and maintain a professional portfolio, a critical tool for students to showcase their media abilities to future employers. Our graduates enjoy successful careers in a variety of fields: Multimedia Reporter; Multimedia Director; Multimedia Producer; Audio Engineer; Media Coordinator; Sports Information Director; Sports Reporter; Sports Writer; Sports Radio Host; Copywriter; Art Director; Event Coordinator; Public Relations; Advertising; Communications Coordinator; Account Manager.

Highlights

The Oklahoma State University undergraduate Sports Media program is the largest stand-alone sports media major in the world with more than 215 annual majors and declared pre-majors. In this program, you will have a balance of theory and hands-on training in the classroom. Your learning is not confined to the classroom, as several of our student organizations allow you to gain practical experience though such activities as sports play-by-play announcing and working behind the scenes on live sports telecasts.

Courses to expect for this major include Sports and the Media, Sports Public Relations, Electronic Sports Reporting, and Sports Announcing.
