Why study a Bachelor of Computer Science in Data Science?

This is the era of big data and artificial intelligence. Data science represents a cutting-edge discipline which applies scientific methods, mathematics, algorithms and artificial intelligence to extract and visualise intelligent insights from huge volumes of data.

In the fast-progressing world of the Information Age these insights, whether delivered via autonomous integrated systems or in traditional reports, have the potential to fuel innovation and transform decision making. Data scientists deal with the challenges of big data – its interpretation, management and use – in fields as diverse as marketing, information systems, engineering, finance, arts, humanities, science and medicine.

Students must be at least 17 years old. Students who have completed the Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM), GCE O-level, or equivalent programs must first complete a pre-university qualification such as GCE A levels, STPM, Monash University Foundation Program (MUFY) or other equivalent. A pre-university qualification serves as a basic entry requirement to an undergraduate degree at Monash University Malaysia. English Language Requirements: IELTS (International English Language Testing System – academic test) - minimum test score of 6.5 overall; at least 6.0 in each individual band; Paper-based TOEFL (American Test of English as a Foreign Language) - minimum test score of 550; Test of Written English (TWE) score of at least 4.5; Internet-based TOEFL (American Test of English as a Foreign Language) score of at least 79 overall writing score of at least 21, speaking score of at least 18, reading score at least 13, listening score of 12; PTE Academic (Pearson Test of English) overall test score: 58.
