The 14-week extended semester provides you with additional support in the areas of maths, chemistry and English. This option is recommended for students who don't have a strong background in these subjects or who are looking for additional academic support.

During the extended semester, you'll complete four extended units to build your confidence and academic skills. These units don't contribute to your final score but will prepare you for success when you enter the standard program.

Course structure and subjects

The extended program is 14 weeks and you will study four subjects. After you successfully complete the extended program, you'll join the standard program. Your unit combination must include:

  • Extended English
  • Ideas and Communication
  • Foundations for Calculus (prepares you for Mathematics) or Mathematics in Context (prepares you for Fundamental Mathematics)
  • Business Enterprise (if you want to study a business degree) or Chemistry and Life (if you want to study a chemistry or biology subject).

GCE A Levels - Total score of a maximum of the best 3 A Level subject examinations taken within two years. Two AS level subjects can be counted in place of one A level subject, provided that the subject has not been taken at A level, and there is at least one A level subject included in the calculation. AS Level results cannot be used to replace a poor performance in an A Level subject; N (Narrow failure) & U (Unclassified) not to be included in the calculation; A maximum of 1 bonus point is offered when achieving A in an A Level Subject. Standard, Intensive, Extended - 3. Students are required to complete international academic qualification equivalent to Australian year 11 or year 12. Applicants must have the minimum age of 16 years. English Language Requirements: IELTS: Standard - Overall 5.5, Writing 5.5 with no band less than 5.0; Intensive: 6.0 no band less than 5.5; Extended: 5.0 no band less than 5.0. TOEFL?Internet based: Standard - 52 – Writing 19, Speaking 14 and Listening and Reading 5; Intensive: 69 writing 19, speaking 16, reading 10, listening 9; Extended: 40 writing 15, speaking 14, reading 5, listening 5; Monash English: Standard - Level 5; Intensive - Level 6; Extended - Level 4. Pearson Test of English: Standard - Overall score of 42 with 42 in Writing Communicative Skills with no other communicative skills score below 36; Intensive - 50 no band less than 42; Extended - 36 no band less than 36.
