Renowned for its orchestral, wind, percussion, contemporary music, choral, opera, jazz, chamber and early music ensembles, the Schulich School of Music presents more than 750 concerts and events each year. Those are just some of the unique performance opportunities you'll have at Canada's largest music school. You’ll also benefit from five recording studios, two concert halls, recital halls, computer and digital composition labs, and a state-of-the-art music library, not to mention world-class research and production facilities. Your contact with leading professional musicians, arts organizations, research societies and music industry experts will provide extensive practical experience and prepare you for the demands of professional life.

Program Requirements

This program requires 91 credits (plus 35 credits for the Freshman requirement for out-of-province students).

126 credits selected as follows:

35 credits - Prerequisite Requirements (for out-of-province students)
22 credits - Required Performance
10 credits - Complementary Performance
31 credits - Required Courses (Theory, Musicianship, History, Literature, or Performance Practice and Diction)
5 credits - Complementary Courses (Musicianship, Music History)
3 credits - Non-Music Electives
20 credits - Free Electives

Special Requirements:
1. Continuation in the program requires a minimum grade of B- in practical instruction/exams and ensembles.
2. Students majoring in Early Music Performance (Voice) may also audition for Opera Repertoire Experience (MUEN 454) and use this ensemble for credits towards the complementary performance/ensemble requirement.

Other English Language Requirements accepted: Pearson Test of English (Academic) with the minimum score of 85; Cambridge English (Advanced) with a grade B or better ; or Cambridge English: Certificate of Proficiency in English with a grade C or better; MELAB SCORE OF 85 and Canadian Academic English Language Assessment (CAEL) with overall score of 60.
