Career opportunities

Technical sales, or field services engineering, production manager, or working in a role that supports professional engineering activities including development, design, building operation and/or maintenance of equipment, plants or structures.

Computer Network specialisation graduates will be able to plan, implement, manage and troubleshoot local area networks (LANs) and wide-area networks (WANs); and will have the knowledge and skills to acquire various industry certifications.

Accreditation by Engineering New Zealand (EngNZ) confirms that the Bachelor of Engineering Technology meets national and international benchmarked standards for first degrees for professional engineers in South Africa, USA, Canada, the United Kingdom, Ireland, Hong Kong, Australia, and New Zealand. EngNZ accreditation also provides recognition for professional membership and registration/licensing purposes in those countries.

Applicants must have successfully completed at least 42 NCEA (or equivalent) credits at Level 3 (including 14 credits in each of two subjects from the NZQA Approved Subjects for University Entrance list); and 8 credits in NCEA English Level 2 (four in reading and four in writing from the NZQA Literacy Requirements for University Entrance list) (or equivalent); and 8 credits in NCEA Mathematics Level 2 (or equivalent);?or Successfully completed at least 72 credits at NCEA (or equivalent) Level 2 including a minimum of 14 credits in each of two subjects and including 8 credits in each of reading/writing and mathematics and including 30 credits achieved at Merit or Excellence;?or Have at least 60 NZQA recognized credits at Level 5 or higher;?or Provide evidence of equivalence through practical, professional or educational experience e.g. three–five years’ full-time work experience (relevant to ICT) they can apply for entry. Evidence of literacy and numeracy will be required. MIT literacy and numeracy assessments are available. English language requirement: IELTS test: Academic score of 6 with no band score lower than 5.5; TOEFL Paper-based test (pBT): Score of 550 (with an essay score of 5 TWE); TOEFL Internet-based test (iBT): Score of 60 (with a writing score of 18); PTE (Academic) score of 50.
