Employers want graduates who are not just academically qualified, but also work-ready with professional skills in enterprise, problem-solving, critical thinking and analysis. Underpinned by international business practice, this course aims to provide you with the breadth and depth of practical skills, knowledge and expertise to become a confident and successful business manager, capable of providing a competitive edge in the global corporate environment. Your advanced studies of management theory, in areas such as project management, applied marketing, logistics and supply chain, will be repeatedly reinforced with real-life practical and responsible application – through case studies, work placements, field trips and industry-sponsored projects. Each module adheres to the Principles of Responsible Management Education (PRME), promoting personal and professional ethical behaviour by presenting a range of ethical dilemmas designed to expose you to professional codes of conduct. You will also be given the opportunity to choose continuing professional development (CPD) workshops in personal understanding, business awareness and core business skills to help ensure you are workplace ready on graduation. In Year Three, you will have the opportunity to undertake an optional 12-month work placement, in the UK or overseas. Our Business Futures team, based within the Faculty, will offer support in helping you secure a placement, although all placements are subject to availability and a competitive application process. Past placements secured by students have included with firms such as Airbus, Marks & Spencer, Microsoft, L‘Oreal and IBM. As well as our focus on corporate engagement and responsible management, you will discover an international theme running throughout your studies, with many modules applying business management principles in a globa context. This focus is further supported by the diversity of our students and staff, who come from a wide variety of different countries, sharing their experience of cultural and organisational differences from around the world – which can often make or break a business opportunity.
