This degree is taught in collaboration with our colleagues at Dundee's Al-Maktoum College. We have a strong history and expertise of teaching traditional finance and economics and we will draw upon the expertise in Islamic finance and wider Islamic studies on offer at Al-Maktoum. Few degrees of this kind exist in the UK.

You will develop your understanding of the application of Islamic commercial law in relation to Islamic financial institutions and financial products, as well as the emergence and working mechanisms of Islamic capital markets.

Topics you will cover include the operations of Islamic banks and Islamic financial markets, alongside the nature of risk and its management in Islamic financial institutions

You will explore contemporary issues and debates in Islamic finance and gain an understanding of the internationalisation strategies and strategic decisions in business.

Throughout the course, you'll also develop your broader skills in wider international business.

You'll also be able to attend guest lectures and workshops from professionals and organisations. These sessions will complement what you learn in class and offer you the chance to hear from industry.

Assessment

You are assessed through a combination of coursework and a final assessment held at the end of each semester.
